The land

Preserved farmland, permanently.

This ground sits under a Chesterfield Township farmland preservation easement. It can never be subdivided, paved, or turned into townhouses. What happens here is farming — and that's all that will ever happen here.

The property was a commercial tree nursery for decades. We're converting it back to food: rotational pasture for poultry and pigs, market beds for vegetables, and a wooded creek corridor left alone to do what woods do.

The method

Animals on grass. Grass on living soil.

Broiler chickens live in floorless shelters that move to fresh pasture every single day. Laying hens follow behind them, scratching through the ground the broilers just fertilized. Heritage pigs work the wooded uplands, clearing brush and rooting in the leaf litter.

Moving the birds daily keeps them on clean ground and spreads the manure thin enough that the pasture takes it up instead of burning. Each rotation leaves the grass thicker and the soil holding more water than it did the year before.

The share

A weekly box built around real meat.

Most CSA programs in New Jersey are vegetables only. Ours starts with the protein your family actually plans dinner around, then fills in from the fields.

Chicken
Whole birds and cuts, raised on pasture and processed here on the farm.
Pork
Heritage breeds finished in the woods. Chops, sausage, bacon, roasts.
Eggs
From hens that follow the broilers across the pasture.
Beef
Grass-fed, joining the share in our second season. Cattle need close to two years on pasture before they're ready, and we won't shortcut that.
Vegetables
Seasonal, cut the morning it goes in your box, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
Mushrooms
Grown on hardwood logs stacked in the shade along the creek. Shiitake first, with oyster, lion's mane and other varieties as the log yard grows.

Shares will come in three sizes for different households, with farm pickup or home delivery inside a 25-mile radius — Hamilton, Princeton, Lawrenceville, Robbinsville, Bordentown, Columbus, Mount Holly.

That timing isn't a guess. Pasture in New Jersey doesn't carry animals until the grass comes back in spring, and we won't put birds on ground that isn't ready for them. We're spending this fall and winter finishing water, power and fencing so the first season starts right.

Founding members get a 10% discount for as long as they stay members, first choice of pickup or delivery, and an open invitation to walk the farm before we open.

The creek

Fourteen acres we won't farm.

Blacks Creek runs through the north end of the property under a hardwood canopy. That corridor stays as it is — no livestock, no tillage. Mushroom logs stacked in the shade, walking trails through it, and clean water leaving the farm cleaner than it arrived.

Members are welcome to walk it.
